Watford 4 Portsmouth 2

Well there's a novelty!

A fantastic Golden Boys victory, even with the luxury of conceeding a goal in the last 10 minutes and it not mattering in the slightest!!!!!!!!

Not only 4 goals but 4 really good goals too, particularly Skipper Gavin Mahon's rocket just before half time. Stars for the hornets today though were wide men Tommy Smith and Hammeur Bouazza, who ripped Pompey apart continuously throughout the game.

Relagation is only a matter of time but it sends us off to Villa Park next Saturday with a little more hope of pulling off the impossible. It does beg the question, why we have not done that to teams more often this season? I saw the Watford of last season today - In the opponents faces playing at a high tempo, mixing long ball with neat short passing and very exciting to watch.

Most importantly and, I suppose strangely we were a team brimming with confidence. How a set of players who have constantly taken a lot of stick from the press and some of their own fans can still play like that is admirable.

Just to round off a good day Kettering beat Harrogate 3-1 and Luton lost to a last minute goal to QPR!
