As I said yesterday, we went for a nice bike ride along the Brampton Valley Way (did about 6 miles). What is odd is that having only recently taken up cycling again after about a 16 year absence, I expected my calves and thighs to be killing me today. However my shoulders are absolutely killing me, which I just can't explain!!
The Brampton Valley Way is what was once the trackbed of the LMS Northampton to Market Harborough Railway and covers about 15 miles. The railway closed to all traffic in 1981 and was purchased by Northamptonshire County Council in 2002 and they turned it into what is known as a Linear Park. It's also part of the national cycle network. On part of it (about a mile to be precise) can be found the Northampton & Lamport Railway, which is a preserved railway.

Some of the scenery from it is absolutely fantastic and if you like cycling or walking I would thoroughly recommend you pay it a visit.
