Yep, a sad day today.
As my profile states I am a manager on the tube. I work on the Northern Line.
Yesterday evening at around 1720hrs we had a Train Operator collapse at his controls between Woodside Park and Totteridge & Whetstone. Despite some very quick and heroic actions by some of his colleagues and prompt action by the London Ambulance Service, he sadly passed away in Hospital about an hour later. It transpired that the driver had suffered a Heart attack. All the more surprising was that this man had hardly ailed in his 59 years of life, he didn't even have the need to wear glasses!
The mood at work today has been very sombre.
When this kind of tradegy occurs I think it makes us all feel mortal.
